New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has his sights set on higher office. Recently, to shore up his base, he has been very outspoken about climate change after Hurricane Sandy, and gun control after the Newtown, CT massacre. He even mentioned confiscation of guns from law abiding citizens as an option. Michelle Malkin addressed that on Sean Hannity’s show, as well as Senator Dianne Fienstein’s attack on the second amendment. As Malkin noted, this is not about making things better, it’s just a political exploitation of a tragedy. Another great point made is that our political leaders and Hollywood celebrities are protected by armed guards, but average Americans and our children are left at the mercy of criminals and lunatics.
Spot on analysis here, watch: (Oh, and there’s also a bonus clip of Sam Donaldson telling the Tea Party that “this is not your country anymore.” I guess we’re supposed to just go along with the fundamental transformation of our republic.)

Does Cuomo or the NY Times have any common sense advice ? Obviously not. Parents do not want ‘problem children’ playing with weapons any more than they want babies getting into bleach or running with a fork. Furthermore, the same was true 200 years ago. Technology creates these problems for humans to navigate, Some people can yack on the phone and drive and they have no problem. Others find that a tree leaped out and attacked their car while they were blabbering on their cell fone. Motorcyclists ought to avoid patches of wet leaves, and some don’t like helmets. Unfortunately, many need helmets – those who do not often resent the jerks who are ruining all the fun. Stupid laws do not solve problems, but parents have already solved this – some kids should go learn to play an instrument, or play football or whatever, rather than play with guns. If they did not, there would be no peace at all. That is why mothers all say “you will poke your eye out”. The problem is that there are lots of nitwits who fall thru the cracks and do not hear the useful rules of thumb. Such as in gangs. My dream is that Cuomo will put his attention on dealing with those dudes. You see – as long as the latest outrage is from some suburban school, he thinks this is just a bunch of milktoast, but dealing with Bloods and Crips would be another story. The number of people in gangs is a barometer of the extent we fail to assimilate, which means those common sense rules of thumb. Why doesn’t Cuomo address that problem.
But does Cuomo read english ? What part of “shall not be infringed” does he have a problem with ? Maybe he does not understand that the Bill of Rights is considered a tripwire that detects tyrants. I automatically assume that encroachment is a hostile act. Only the naive assume otherwise.

Ms. Malkin does have a pin-pointed command of words. Legal, traditional, productive, law-abiding citizens are being demonized and unfairly criminalized by a hypocritical partisan party of mob rule thugs. Divisive, incendiary language used by opportunist politicians in the face of tragedy is a weapon and unacceptable. It’s no coincidence at this point that they are propagandizing civil uprisings.
Andy’s inaugural speech was pledged to the socialist agenda. His handy work in the Clinton Administration had/has a direct effect upon the ills of our Country. Apparently Andy doesn’t have a problem with the BHO Administration also giving carte blanche impunity to the Sinaloa Drug Cartel with exclusive routes into NYC, Chicago, and LA using military grade weapons supplied through the Fast And Furious Gunrunner Program that operated out of ten cities in five states, aided by a signing statement to NAFTA that allows tractor trailers, cargo container shipments, and Boeing 747s to enter unchecked.

I am willing to give up my firearms, as soon as Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein, et al. give up theirs and all their security.
Let them live like I do and perhaps they may be less intent on denying protection to me.
