The other day at work a coworker was extremely annoyed that her paycheck was going to be almost $50 short because her share of her family health plan is going up. (That was before she saw the 2% increase in payroll taxes.) We get paid every two weeks, so her insurance payment is going up about $100 a month. That’s a lot of money. I said “Don’t worry, thanks to Obamacare, you can get a breast pump.” She wasn’t amused in the least and said “But I don’t need a breast pump!” But that doesn’t matter. Thanks to Obamacare, she, and I, and everyone else paying for health insurance is forced to pay for things only some people want. And no, a breast pump is not a necessity. It’s a convenience for nursing mothers. It’s something expectant mothers used to put on baby shower wish lists. Now it’s paid for by the rest of us.
I don’t believe this coworker voted for Obama, and I’m pretty sure another coworker who might have voted for him is regretting it if she did, as that coworker muttered “Damn Obama” when she said she was going to have to pick up another cleaning job to make ends meet.
Isn’t this Obama economy great?
