In case you missed this today, the Department of Homeland Security has a new video instructing the masses on what to do in the event we find ourselves up against a crazed gunman. Of course, in this video there are no citizens with concealed carry permits to pull their own guns on the bad guys. For pretty much three minutes the video depicts helpless victims climbing under desks and tables, or running away with their hands up in the air. The video also tells people to call 911, but then says not to use phones because they can give away your hiding place. It’s pretty ridiculous, but the dumbest part comes at about the 1:50 mark. The narrator says that if you have no place to take cover or hide and you’re stuck out in the open to grab something and try “to overpower the shooter with whatever means are available.” The camera then pans to a hand rummaging through a desk drawer and then pulling out a pair of scissors, as if the shooter wouldn’t gun down the victim rummaging through a drawer.
I wonder if they got the idea for this video from Obama’s old comment about bringing a knife to a gun fight.
Watch this absurd video your tax dollars paid for.

You could have got this information from a popular crime storyline shown on an alphabet channel. This was done about as well and as effective as the “duck and cover” safety instructions in the 60’s. Woefully ineffective and wasteful.

What would we do without the government telling us we need to breathe on a daily basis?
Hide under a desk….isn’t that the same advice the government told to school children in the 50′s & 60′s if the soviets launched a nuclear attack???
And if rock beats scissors, I’m pretty sure a gun beats scissors.
Someone needs to make a version of this more along the lines of this:

Between a rock, a paper, and scissors, I’ll take the Rock.
