President Obama has nominated former Senator Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense, despite Hagel’s past anti-Israel comments and opposition to sanctions on Iran. Hagel is drawing opposition from Republicans and Democrats alike. At the press conference announcing the nomination, Obama said that Hagel is “the leader our troops deserve.” Unfortunately, he probably meant it.
