Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) thinks it’s unfair that people have to make choices when dealing with their personal budgets. To make things more fair, she wants $210 million federal dollars to hand out to upstate New Yorkers to weatherize their homes.
Weatherizing your home could save you hundreds of dollars a year. That’s why NY Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is asking for $210-million to support weatherization programs.
Hundreds of low income families count on weatherization assistance programs to make upgrades and save money, but without continued financial support from Washington, those programs and the people who rely on them, could be in trouble.
“In the winter months when it gets cold, families have to choose from heating homes, having food, medicines, everything they need for their kids and we think those choices are just unfair,” said Senator Gillibrand.
Washington lawmakers were in town on Friday and promised to fight for funding on Capitol Hill. (Read More)
We need to weatherize her head, apparently there’s a lot of air getting in there. Dan Maffei was with her, blathering about how this government spending helps the economy. That’s his answer to everything.
The article goes on to note that the federal weatherization station in East Syracuse has already trained 1,000 people to weatherize homes. What it doesn’t say is how many of those 1.000 found jobs. It also says there are 800 people on the waiting list, so there are more people trained to weatherize than needing weatherization. Doing the math, the $210,000,000 Gillibrand is demanding comes to $262,500 per person on the list waiting for weatherization. In this area you could buy a pretty nice brand new home for that kind of money. But then they’d need help paying their property taxes.

@lonelycon politicians like Gillibrand must just sit around all day and dream up ways of spending our money… Unbelievable…

If I were to weatherize my home I would first look at the cost/benefit. I would get several quotes to get the best price and then I would save the money to get it it done, after all it’s my money.
None of this is going to happen when free money is handed out. Homes that do not need weatherizing will be “updated” Friends and relatives of the government will be first in line for “updates” of which some of the money will find the bottom of their pockets. Cronies of the government will get the contracts and the quality of the work will be in question.
All of this to buy votes in a time when we can’t afford to spend anymore. I’m nauseated right now.

Oh, wow, another govt boondoggle. New York must be totally brain dead to put these people in office and then continue to reelect. Gillibrand used to act to a limited degree like she had common sense as a Congresswoman and then, when the Soros-led power brokers tapped her on the shoulder, she sold her soul.
I got an idea, how about if all the Progressive leaders turned in their slush funds. They could probably find a Patriot who would do the work cheap and actually accomplish something for the few who really can’t fend for themselves. This stuff they do is both offensive and repulsive. God HELP America.

Mal-educated Pinheads like this never fail to turn my stomach nowadays.
It used to be you could just laugh at fools like this and nobody paid any attention to them, so they couldn’t harm anyone.
But now? These smug elitist nitwits are in positions of power everywhere.
If New Yorkers had and sense whatever they would dump this loser.
But who ever claimed that New Yorkers had brains? Look at the Mayor they elected. Hell, they even pay dockworkers royalties for work they never did. How stupid is that?

The original $5 Billion Green Jobs federal weatherization stimulus program was using taxpayer money to fund locally corrupt community organizer nonprofit groups ACORN style to subcontract select favorite chosen companies without oversight, lack of verifiable eligibility of applicates or adequate documentation of each job. GAO and IGs have issued reports documenting high administrative costs above the 5% allowed, faulty workmanship (such as gas leaks) that doesn’t pass inspection or meet federal compliance standards requiring additional repairs, quantity padding of bills for light bulbs, thermostats, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, drywall, smart grid meters, and other materials. Assistance went to ineligible family and friends whose homes received free central air conditioning and heating systems, furnaces, water heaters, washers, dryers, refrigerators, windows, doors, and floor / wall / ceiling / attic spray insulation. Members of the BHO Administration and DNC have profited the most from their investments in energy stocks and companies owned by them, as Kirsten and her husband profited off her inside trader information from the 2008 mortgage housing collapse.
