I distinctly remember paying $4/gallon back when Bush, Jr. was in office. So what’s your point other than that gas prices fluctuate wildly and there’s very little the U.S. Pres. can do about it in a free market economy?
Oh, then, do you remember how Bush took steps so that the price of gas fell? Do you also remember the press hammering Bush for the gas prices while he was president? They blamed him when gas prices shot up, and gave him no credit when gas prices fell. Why should your guy be held to a different standard?
Yes, there was $4/gallon gas under GW Bush — as Lonely Conservative mentions, don’t you recall the Dems hammering away at that constantly? At hearing even local news commenting on it, and almost always blaming Bush? Remember Obama’s own campaign ad when gas was “only” $3.50/gallon back in 2008? Or Pelosi and assorted Dems calling attention to the issue? Or people clamoring for the then-President GW Bush to do something about the prices?
Funny how, under Obama, we don’t get the same attention on the issue, isn’t it? Many fewer stories out there, and even those that ARE aired generally blame gas and oil speculators — and not the President.
Also funny that you end your post the way you do — since no one seemed to extend that viewpoint to GW Bush — certainly not the Democrats, and not Barack Obama.
I’m terribly sorry you think some of us don’t have long term memories, but we do, troll. The hypocrisy of the Left never ceases to amaze me — but for Double Standards, you would have none at all. Keep spinning that narrative!
Hey Erik! Is that your mother I hear calling you? Must be time for dinner. Now be a good little Nazi and go eat. If you don’t eat your meat, you can’t have any pudding.
@erik…Free market economy? The USA is anything BUT a free market economy. Business is regulated and taxed nearly to death. See the contraction in the business sector? See the dismal unemployment numbers? Taxes and onerous regulations.
What’s the fuss, anyone can buy gas now for 20 cents per gallon. You must, however, pay with 2 Mercury Dimes. Now, what was the price of gas in 1950? Answer, 20 cents. Wow, has the value of the USD gone that low? Answer, yup, & it’s going lower!! Just this morning, Helicopter Ben said “Quantative Easing”, aka printing money, will continue until the unemployment falls. Hold onto your hats folks, there’s no soft landing here!!
