Hope and change: The Department of Justice has declared that drone strikes on US citizens is legal.
A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force” — even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.
The 16-page memo, a copy of which was obtained by NBC News, provides new details about the legal reasoning behind one of the Obama administration’s most secretive and controversial polices: its dramatically increased use of drone strikes against al-Qaida suspects, including those aimed at American citizens, such as the September 2011 strike in Yemen that killed alleged al-Qaida operatives Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan. Both were U.S. citizens who had never been indicted by the U.S. government nor charged with any crimes. …
Although not an official legal memo, the white paper was represented by administration officials as a policy document that closely mirrors the arguments of classified memos on targeted killings by the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, which provides authoritative legal advice to the president and all executive branch agencies. The administration has refused to turn over to Congress or release those memos publicly — or even publicly confirm their existence. A source with access to the white paper, which is not classified, provided a copy to NBC News.
“This is a chilling document,” said Jameel Jaffer, deputy legal director of the ACLU, which is suing to obtain administration memos about the targeted killing of Americans. “Basically, it argues that the government has the right to carry out the extrajudicial killing of an American citizen. … It recognizes some limits on the authority it sets out, but the limits are elastic and vaguely defined, and it’s easy to see how they could be manipulated.” (Read More)
Unfortunately, this isn’t really anything new, but people voted to reelect Obama anyway. It probably won’t even effect his approval ratings.

The DOJ got away with the Branch Davidian massacre without punishment. Ruby Ridge too.
bimBO amended E.O. 12425 by new E.O. 13524 12-16-2009 removing protections Reagan put in place over INTERPOL. INTERPOL operates within the DOJ and was given privilege, exemption, immunity to operate within the U.S. independently and without oversight not subject to the Fourth Amendment search and seizure, FOIA, FBI, or taxes. Yes, B HO gave away American sovereignty to an international police force and international criminal court bypassing the Senate. Our soldiers could be charged with war crimes, arrested, and deported to a foreign land without American Constitutional protections.
NDAA FY2013 was signed again 01/03/2013 with indefinite detention without trial.

We’re done. That’s it, no more civil discourse is possible with the lying, deceitful Leftist Hordes.
Remember how the Leftists were all aflutter over GW Bush allegedly using the Constitution for toilet paper? How he was paving the way for tyranny? You know, despite NOT unilaterally waging war without Congressional approval, and without killing US citizens in drone strikes?
So, Obama doubles down, basically turns the volume to eleven, and not a damn PEEP from the lying, reprehensible, barely-human Leftists?
Game over. It was apparently never about morality with Leftists, it was about power. Anything GW Bush did? Bad. Anything King Putt does? Good.
Let. it. Burn.

Al Qaeda declared war on the United States, you’ll remember. You may have noticed that combatants making war aren’t extended the courtesies common to civil society. (Remind me, how many Southerners did President Lincoln’s Justice Department indict? The North never did recognize the people of the Confederate States of America as foreigners. This isn’t a perfect example but it does illustrate the point.)
If Leftists were basically honorable people who try to act in a principled way but, as we all sometimes are, a bit mistaken sometimes, they’d remember John Yoo and admit they were wrong to vilify him the nasty way they did just a few years ago.
But they aren’t so they don’t.
