Former Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. and his wife both pleaded guilty to using campaign funds to finance their personal lives. CNN didn’t identify Jackson’s party affiliation until 9 paragraphs into their online report. Here are the first few paragraphs, where you can’t find the word Democrat anywhere.
With moist eyes and soft voices, former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife pleaded guilty to federal charges on Wednesday related to years of using campaign funds for personal expenses that included purchases of Michael Jackson memorabilia and a Rolex watch.
“Guilty, your honor,” Jackson responded to U.S. District Judge Robert Wilkins while dabbing his eyes with a handkerchief after he looked back at family members in the courtroom, including his father, civil rights activist Jesse Jackson.
“I used monies that should have been used for campaign purposes,” Jackson, 47, acknowledged to the judge. When Wilkins asked if Jackson realized that the guilty plea meant giving up the right to a trial, he responded: “I have no interest in wasting the taxpayers’ time or money.”
Jackson admitted to diverting about $750,000 for personal purposes from 2005 to 2012.
You’ll have to keep reading to find the part identifying his political party. Sentencing won’t be for a few months, but I have a feeling the Chicago power couple will be let off easy.
Compare CNN’s coverage of Jackson, who retired because of this scandal, to the Washington Post’s coverage of a sex scandal involving former Republican Senator Pete Domenici. Domenici, who retired in 2009, admitted to fathering an child in 1978. WaPo made sure they identified Domenici as a Republican in the very first sentence of their report. But no, we’re not supposed to think the media is biased against Republicans.

‘However, Wilkins said he was not bound by sentencing guidelines, telling Jackson: “The bottom line is, I don’t know what sentence you’re going to get and you don’t know what sentence you’re going to get.”‘
He was re-elected while out of public access for months without explanation. He reappeared after election nightclubbing and womanizing. He resigned with benefits and pension intact. A special election will cost an estimated $5.1 Million. And he hasn’t been charged with attempting to buy from Blagojevich the vacated BenghaziØ Senate seat appointment with not just $1.5 Million campaign cash as reported, but $6 Million in campaign cash disclosed by his campaign manager, Rag Nayak. Where is the Justice?
