A small minority of women pushed to allow women to serve in combat. Now if the corrupt Charlie Rangel has his way the draft will be reinstated and women (of child-bearing years) will be  included. What a perfect way to destroy the remaining traditional American families.
Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) on Friday said he plans to introduce legislation that would bring back the military draft and extend it to women for the first time.
Rangel, who has pushed for years to bring back the draft, said the Pentagon’s decision to allow women to serve in combat means that they too should register for the Selective Service.
“Now that women can serve in combat they should register for the Selective Service alongside their male counterparts,” Rangel said in a statement. “Reinstating the draft and requiring women to register for the Selective Service would compel the American public to have a stake in the wars we fight as a nation. We must question why and how we go to war, and who decides to send our men and women into harm’s way.” (Read More)
The men and women he wants to draft certainly won’t have a say as to why and how we go to war.
At Lew Rockwell, Laurence Vance asked “What sacrifices do members of Congress make when the country goes to war? How has Rangel sacrificed since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan began?” Good question. Don’t hold your breath waiting for a good answer.

@lonelycon they’re gutting the military, why would the need to reinstate the draft?

The Distinguished Gentleman does not want to subject women to conscription; he’s using this as a means to end Selective Service entirely.

I have little use, aside from mockery, for the entire Congressional Black Caucus. That said, Charlie Rangel may be the best of a sad lot. Coming in ahead of Maxine Waters and Hank Johnson is not a particularly big dea.
Howevr Charlie does have a point If women are deemed able to serve in infantry, there are legal reasons to exclude from involuntary assiginment to infantry and to military conscription.
The draft has been used to fill the ranks of the infantry If women are not deemed capable of serving in infantry, there is no basis to draft them. Welcome to ObamaWorld.
