Most of us would agree that the government has the right to infringe on the freedom of murders, rapists, child molesters and other violent criminals. But that’s not what New York City Mayor Michael “Nanny” Bloomberg had in mind yesterday when he said the government has the right to infringe on our freedom.
“I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom,” Mr. Bloomberg said, during an appearance on NBC. He made the statement during discussion of his soda ban — just shot down by the courts — and insistence that his fight to control sugary drink portion sizes in the city would go forth.
Too bad Bloomberg’s fellow progressives won’t follow his lead and state what they really believe about our freedom and our rights. It would certainly be eye opening.
