There’s some good news today – the Twinkie and other Hostess cakes are making a comeback!
The new owner of Hostess Brands Inc’s snack cakes hopes to have Twinkies back on U.S. store shelves by this summer, according to a member of the purchasing group.
“Our family is thrilled to have the opportunity to reestablish these iconic brands with new creative marketing ideas and renewed sales efforts and investment,” Daren Metropoulos, a principal at his family’s private equity firm, told Reuters in an email on Tuesday.
“We look forward to having America’s favorite snacks back on the shelf by this summer.” (Read More)
It looks like Wonder Bread will also be back on the shelves some time soon. Yay!

Better hope it’s not somebody that will export the bakeries to Mexico, or Bangladesh, or some offshore hellhole
York Pepperment Patties, once a favorite treat of my wifes for her entire life – up till now – exported their productsion to Mexico, and the candy is now nowhere near the same in taste and quality. She no longer buys them. The one thing that remained unchanged… the wrapper.
And of course the advertising.
Whoopie.
If Twinkies start getting manufactured somewhere offshore – where cheap uncaring labor and little or no effort is given to keeping up the quality – don’t expect them to be the product you knew and loved.
Don’t break out the champagne yet.
