The anger of the gun grabbers is still palpable after the Senate failed to pass a bill yesterday. Now they’re moving on to plan B.
On the heels of President Obama’s hissy fit, Joe Biden promised that Obama will use executive action to take away our rights, and he spewed a bunch of nonsense and statistics made up out of whole cloth.
Gabby Giffords was almost as bad with an op-ed she published in the NYT. So much for civil discourse.
If Alter meant it when he said he hoped Giffords would become a “referee” of public discourse–an advocate for reasoned civility–he ought to feel terribly disappointed. She has instead turned out to be a practitioner of incivility and unreason.
That’s a harsh but justified appraisal of her op-ed in today’s New York Times, titled “A Senate in the Gun Lobby’s Grip.” It’s a reaction to yesterday’s failure of President Obama’s gun-control proposals in the Democratic Senate. Giffords’s 900-word jeremiad should be included in every textbook of logic and political rhetoric, so rife is it with examples of fallacious reasoning and demagogic appeals. (Read More)
I’m not in the mood to quote her, it was bad enough reading it the first time. This is the same woman that campaigned as a champion of the Second Amendment.
Oh, and of course Nancy Pelosi had to weigh in, saying it’s “inevitible” that they will ram their anti-gun agenda through somehow. No surprise there, seeing how the Democrats desperately cling to gun control.
