Here’s video of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) discussing gun control with the panel on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. She was asked what they’re doing about mental health issues and violent video games, and after giving some lip service to looking at everything she said “It’s not my gravest concern in New York state. My concern in New York state is trafficking. … I’m not worried about video games. That is not my area of focus.” She also said she wants to keep guns out of the hands of gangs, but didn’t mention the culture that produces gang members. Plus, I’m pretty sure that it’s illegal to traffic guns to gangs, so maybe they could just enforce the laws already on the books.
Seeing that the recent push for gun control is allegedly due to a couple of horrific massacres, how about we remind Gillibrand who committed those crimes.
Now, a riddle for you. What did our three most famous recent mass murderers, Adam Lanza, James Holmes, and Jared Lee Loughner, all have in common?
Like half of all Americans, they had access to a gun. But like a very small but growing percentage of the population, they were young people who played endless, obsessive hours of violent video games.
Be sure to read the whole thing, and watch the video of a game app available to young children on their iPods. It’s disturbing.
