Okay, so First Lady Michelle Obama isn’t calling for an outright ban on cupcakes from children’s textbooks, but she’s getting close. Right now she’s just praising those publishers that voluntarily replace cupcakes with things like apples in math problems. (The fruit, not the electronic devices manufactured by a company that doesn’t voluntarily increase its own tax burden. That company is on the bad list this week.)
First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” initiative is praising textbook publishers for “swapping out cupcakes for apples in math problems,” in a campaign to incorporate health information into the learning resources for kids.

“Publishers are making simple changes, like swapping out cupcakes for apples in math problems,” the anti-obesity initiative noted. “They are also finding ways to include physical activity in lesson plans – discussing the history of little league baseball and using sports in word problems.” (Read More)
Why do people participate in sports? Is it because they like the competition, and they get in shape to be better players and competitors? Or do they simply do it because it will keep them in shape and they’ll be healthier? I guess they do both, but the former seems like more fun. If people only do it because it’s supposed to be good for them it kind of takes the excitement out of it. But libs don’t like us being competitive with one another. We’re not supposed to play to win, because that makes the losers feel bad. We’re just supposed to do it to reduce our health care costs and keep the bureaucrats happy. Or something. They just seem to want to sap the fun out of everything. Everything has to be analyzed and controlled from the top, from our food, to the education of our children, to our recreational activities.
