Harry Reid Refuses House Conference To Avoid Shutdown

President Obama’s Senate ally Harry Reid has yet again shown that he wants to shut down the government. House Republican leaders set up a conference committee to see if the two houses could hammer out an agreement to keep the government up and running. Reid shut it down.

But President Obama did call congressional leaders to demand that they do as he says. He had to wait until late Monday night because he was busy playing golf over the weekend. You know, he has his priorities. But of course, he doesn’t mind throwing out words like “ransom.” How civil.

Now a shutdown is a near certainty. I guess we’ll find out in the morning for sure, but it’s looking that way.

Update: I almost forgot – during a shutdown many federal employees will receive raises, overtime pay and comp time. You won’t hear about that among the sob stories the media will be soon be trotting out.
