This morning the Dow started the day at about 14,900. Before noon, news leaked that a call was made to Speaker Boehner by the President to tell him that there would be no negotiations.
Obama Call to Boehner: No Negotiations Without Clean CR
Updated 11:43 a.m. | President Barack Obama called Speaker John A. Boehner Tuesday morning and reiterated his refusal to negotiate on the fiscal impasse that has shut down the government and threatens a debt default.
“The president called the speaker again today to reiterate that he won’t negotiate on a government funding bill or debt limit increase,” Boehner spokesman Brendan Buck said in a statement to reporters.
Obama has repeatedly said he won’t negotiate until the Ohio Republican agrees to hold a vote on a “clean” bill reopening the government. Boehner has refused to do so.
Around that same time, the Dow began it’s slump. At 2pm the Dow was about 14,800. After Obama was finished poisoning every well and water hole within the lower 48 with his over the top hate fest, the Dow dropped about 100 points. All told, Obama’s behavior spooked the Dow to fall about 160 points today.
Wall Street Haunted by Budget Impasse; Stocks Tumble
…President Barack Obama did little to ease Wall Street’s nerves when he spoke during mid-day trading. The president called on Congress to craft a deal to halt the shutdown immediately, and warned a default on U.S. debt would spark a “very deep recession.”
I wonder what he’ll do tomorrow?
