The government shutdown that began at midnight has nothing to do with the Obamacare exchanges. As President Obama noted, the law is fully funded and it cannot be stopped. So they can’t blame the Republican bogeymen for the exchange websites not working. Twitchy has a compilation of screen shots of the various state exchanges with broken websites and complaints about the HealthCare.gov website not working. It looks fine, just don’t try to do anything with it.
They also can’t blame the Republican governors who refused to set up Obamacare exchanges. Here in New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was on board with and cooperative about Obamacare. But when I went to NYStateofHealth and clicked on the Small Business Marketplace link this is what I saw.
Obama and the Democrats should have let Republicans delay this mess. It would have done them a huge favor.
Oh, and don’t expect things to get better any time soon. President Obama said to expect months of glitches. Glitch is the word of the month.
Update: Someone pointed out that the small business exchanges are not yet ready. I forgot about that, there have been so many glitches it’s hard to remember them all. But the individual marketplace isn’t doing so well either. Here is what the NY site has at the top of the page as of 5:13 PM.
And this is what I saw after I clicked on the Individuals and Families link:
That’s what I call a fail.
Update: I just saw a commercial on TV advertising the site for the NY exchange and encouraging everyone to go sign up. You’d think they would have made sure it worked before rolling out an ad campaign. How much is that costing we the taxpayers?
