If you’re a pro-life New Yorker, or if you believe in the Second Amendment, Governor Andrew Cuomo has a message for you: Get out. That’s right, he says conservatives who are pro-life have no place in New York.
You have a schism within the Republican Party. … They’re searching to define their soul, that’s what’s going on. Is the Republican party in this state a moderate party or is it an extreme conservative party? That’s what they’re trying to figure out. It’s a mirror of what’s going on in Washington. The gridlock in Washington is less about Democrats and Republicans. It’s more about extreme Republicans versus moderate Republicans.
… You’re seeing that play out in New York. … The Republican Party candidates are running against the SAFE Act — it was voted for by moderate Republicans who run the Senate! Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves. Who are they? .
If they’re moderate Republicans like in the Senate right now, who control the Senate — moderate Republicans have a place in their state. George Pataki was governor of this state as a moderate Republican; but not what you’re hearing from them on the far right.”
Cuomo has made a career of referring to anyone that opposes his agenda as “extreme” while simultaneously referring to that agenda as “common sense.” It’s code words and phrases over substance – typical liberal hackery.
Oddly though, there is little that can be classified as more extreme than usurping the Constitutional right to bear arms via the SAFE Act, or ignoring New York’s Constitution by passing the gun-grabbing law in the middle of the night.
Be that as it may, the Governor has openly declared war on the very same people who oppose his abuse of power. A majority of counties and sheriffs in New York have developed resolutions which oppose the SAFE Act. (Read More)
If I could leave this state I would in a heartbeat. But for the time being we’re stuck here with this nasty man as governor. And to think this guy wants to run for president. Beware, America.
